Woolacombe Beach
Devon, England
Three miles of Atlantic-facing golden sand backed by dunes, with powerful surf rolling in and beautiful digging conditions in the sheltered sections away from the main break.
Three miles of Atlantic-facing golden sand backed by dunes, with powerful surf rolling in and beautiful digging conditions in the sheltered sections away from the main break. The sand is medium-grained, packs well, and stays damp at the right depth even on hot summer days. For a sand pool, the area around Barricane at the north end is sheltered and perfect. For moats and channels, the main beach offers unlimited space.
Best Seasons

Tides
Good tidal range exposes substantial extra sand at low tide. The gradient is gentle — tide comes in slowly and predictably.
